Motivation is one of the critical factors in Learning among students. It helps students in scoring high grades at academic levels. Students who are having motivation to do things easily learn things easily. There are several factors that contribute to the motivation among students. motivation can either be part of the character of the student or might be based on the interest obtained over a longer period of time. In some cases the motivational factor can be attributed to the rewarding of similar situation in the past.
Sometimes the subject being taught itself will motivate the students. But for most of the students whatever being studied at schools are not much motivating. For compacting this various rewards and ranks are implemented at schools. Some schools motivate students through distributions of prizes at ceremonies. It should also be noted that if there is no motivation factor among students then there is chances of their interest loosing over a period of time.
The first step in creating motivation is arousing interest in students about the importance of the course material being taught. How studying the course can benefit in short term and long term can be conveyed to the students for better exposure which will be a motivating factor to them.
The second thing that needs to be considered is the curiosity factor which depends upon the skills of the teachers. Showing demo of the various aspects inside the course content is an easy way to create curiosity among students. presentation methods also helps in building motivation in students. Using various media can create multiple opportunities to attract students to the subject.
The final step that should be kept in mind of the teachers is showing students setting realistic goals. This helps in motivating them to perform better to attain those goals and compete among each other. Setting clear expectations about each student is also necessary for keeping track of the level of motivation each student possess at various stage of the course.
